Stuart M. Ketchum Downtown YMCA
The Stuart M. Ketchum Downtown YMCA, named for the Los Angeles businessman whose dreams, efforts and philanthropy led to its opening in 1986, is the largest non-profit community service organization in Downtown Los Angeles. The Ketchum-Downtown YMCA works to meet the cultural, health and social service needs of more than 20,000 men, women, and children, through programs that build healthy body, mind and spirit for all.
YOUTH AND TEEN PROGRAMS
Teen LEAD - Teen LEAD is a progressive leadership development program for teens that includes healthy lifestyles activities leading to a CCNP Fitness Facility and a Ketchum-Downtown YMCA teen membership. Additional levels of the program include peer group discussions, volunteers, Scholar-Shop and the Y story and mission. Teen LEAD is also the gateway to all YMCA Teen Programs.
Fine Arts - The Fine Arts Program offers a variety of classes in the following areas: Dance: Ballet.
Teen Sports - Teen Sports offers a variety of sports to teach leadership and character development, the importance of fair play and healthy competition. Leagues include: Jr. Lakers/Sparks basketball, Volleyball, and Flag Football.
Youth & Government (Y&G): - Y & G develops student leaders and involves teens in the democratic process including the creation of a bill to be presented in the state capitol. Teens travel to San Luis Obispo and Sacramento to meet with other Y & G participants.
Camping - Teens can participate in a one-weekend camping trip in the summer. Camp offers a variety of seasonal and traditional activities such as water skiing, rock climbing, horseback riding and much, much more.
Martial Arts - Martial Arts classes for all ages teach the basics of movement, concentration and discipline with the guidance of an experienced instructor.
ADULT PROGRAMS
Adult Basketball - Adult Basketball teaches leadership and character development, the importance of fair play and healthy competition.
Aerobics - Aerobics classes are offered to the community to promote healthy lifestyles, increased self-esteem and unite the community.
CCNP Fitness Facility - CCNP Fitness Facility will feature state of the art weight training and cardiovascular equipment. Weight training staff have developed a 6 and 12 week workout plan to help you reach your health goals.
Child Watch - The Child Watch Program provides free short-term childcare for youth ages 5-12 while parents participate in CCNP and Family Development Network / Para Mi Futuro and Programs.
